چکیده

The requirement of high quality service (QoS) in multi-priority industrial and domestic sensor networks poses new challenges to the increasing adoption Internet Things (IoT). In Multi-event Wireless Sensor Networks (MWSNs), nodes generate different types data packets i.e., urgent (high priority) or normal (low priority), with traffic proportions. High priority require an assurance faster transmission higher reliability network. literature, existing medium access control (MAC) protocols for MWSNs have limited consideration supporting Therefore, this paper proposes energy efficient MAC scheme that incorporates dynamic proportion, called PriTraCon-MAC. PriTraCon-MAC supports multi-events by considering four levels uses a novel approach adjusts contention window adaptively. Due that, Request-To-Send frame can be sent earlier window, resulting corresponding acceptance receiver. Furthermore, mathematical delay analysis proportions has also been undertaken. addition, implemented OMNET++ Castalia its performance evaluated terms packet delay, reliability, consumption, compared Timeout Multi-priority based-MAC (TMPQ-MAC) under various network conditions. simulation results demonstrate offers lower average achieves significantly success rate, while reducing consumption up 80% when TMPQ-MAC protocol.

Multi-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...

Reasons for priority-based Medium Access in Wireless Sensor Networks

The trend towards heterogeneous wireless sensor networks and cyber-physical systems results in new challenges for the communications protocols. The co-existence of these networks can result in an unacceptable performance decrease if they interfere with each other or share the same radio channel. Especially, in the latter case, priority-based medium access with Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee...

A Fair Contention Access Scheme for Low-Priority Traffic in Wireless Body Area Networks

Recently, wireless body area networks (WBANs) have attracted significant consideration in ubiquitous healthcare. A number of medium access control (MAC) protocols, primarily derived from the superframe structure of the IEEE 802.15.4, have been proposed in literature. These MAC protocols aim to provide quality of service (QoS) by prioritizing different traffic types in WBANs. A contention access...

Energy and Priority Aware Scheduling Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are playing a vital role in automation, sensing and commercial applications. Key issues in WSNs are to satisfy Quality of service (QoS) parameters and to conserve energy. Some of the sensor nodes in WSN act as a single communication link to connect one group of sensor nodes to other in multi-hop environment. If nodes acting as a single communication link become d...
